Company Profile
Satchel & Boot
A data-first consulting and execution firm. We close the control gap and make performance measurable across public and private sectors.
Overview
Who we are
Satchel and Boot (Pty) Ltd is a South African management consulting firm that closes the control gap - the distance between what is actually happening in an organisation and what leadership can see and act on in time. We fuse data analytics, business analytics, business intelligence, and geospatial intelligence into one integrated delivery model that makes performance visible, measurable, and improvable.
We do not just advise. We embed our people - The Boots - inside the client operation, working alongside the teams who do the work, building the capability as we deliver it, and leaving when the advantage is the client's to keep. The discipline we bring into a client engagement is the discipline we hold ourselves to first: our own operating system, the Satchel, is a proprietary AI-powered pipeline that makes us faster, sharper, and more accountable than a traditional consultancy.
The result is a firm that can take an organisation from fragmented data and reactive governance to a live, decision-ready operating picture - and prove the difference with outcomes, not decks.
Background
Company background
Our story
Satchel and Boot was registered in 2016. Its real point of inflection came in 2021 and 2022, when an MBA at the Gordon Institute of Business Science brought its founders together and a sharper way of thinking took hold. That is when Satchel and Boot, as it exists today, was formed.
We are a proudly South African firm, and we backed ourselves. We set our own vision and direction, and we have been the ones to push it - bootstrapped, self-funded, and built from scratch on our own terms.
An unlikely mix, deliberately
What holds Satchel and Boot together is a combination that should not obviously work. We are an eclectic group from genuinely different fields, and we work uniquely well together. Out of the ordinary individually, we produce extraordinary work as a team - each bringing talent and drive that are beautifully different, pushing, pulling and challenging in the same direction. That is what we believe is our real competitive advantage.
Where we are now
We own this firm, we fund it, and we run it the way we believe it should be run. We are the change we want to see - a proudly South African venture that has grown from the ground up into a going concern doing work that reaches South African policy, organisations, and South Africans themselves. We are the proof that it can be done.
LUMA - giving back to South Africa
LUMA - meaning ignite - is our foundation and a registered Non Profit Company. The conviction behind it is simple: talent is not the problem in South Africa. Access is - access to facilities, and access to opportunity.
Satchel and Boot enables LUMA, registering and funding it, while it is run by carefully selected members who sit entirely independently of the firm. We pledge a portion of our future revenue to LUMA, so that as we grow, more flows directly back to the South Africans who need it most. It is also an invitation to the organisations we work with: the work we deliver carries something further with it, a portion that flows through LUMA into opportunity for those who need it.
Purpose
Vision, mission, and values
Vision
A world where data and AI are no longer a luxury - and Satchel and Boot is the firm that changed that.
Mission
We exist for organisations that are tired of waiting for data and AI to change their business - and we deliver it ourselves, end to end, using the Satchel, our proprietary AI pipeline that makes us faster, sharper and more accountable than any traditional consultancy. We do not pitch and disappear. We build, deploy and stay until the results are real.
Values
Rethink the ordinary
The obvious answer is rarely the best one. We question the brief, challenge the assumption, and reach for what is possible.
Excellence beyond expectation
We do not submit work we are not proud of. The standard is international benchmarks, not the minimum the contract requires.
Take care, do great work
We care about people and clients as human beings. Care and great work make each other possible - one without the other is incomplete.
Own it. Nail it.
Accountability means you said you would, so you did. Execution means done properly, not just done.
Ownership
Group ownership structure
Satchel and Boot (Pty) Ltd is held by three owner companies, each bringing transformation-led credentials to the group. The structure reflects the firm's commitment to youth ownership, broad-based empowerment, and gender inclusion.

Capabilities
Services and disciplines
Four disciplines run through everything we deliver. They are not what you buy - they are the how underneath the work, the golden thread that turns a fragmented operation into one that holds. Set around the control gap, they become the levers that close it.
DAaaS
Data Analytics as a Service
Establishes reliable, well-governed data foundations and analytical assets that convert raw inputs into decision-ready information. Includes data pipelines, data quality and validation, modelling and storage, security and lineage.
BAaaS
Business Analytics as a Service
Aligns processes and performance to outcomes through structured measurement, analysis, and continuous improvement. Includes process mapping, KPI frameworks, variance analysis, scenario planning, and benefits tracking.
BIaaS
Business Intelligence as a Service
Delivers a live operating picture: dashboards, alerts, and embedded insights, so decisions are timely, consistent, and actionable. Includes executive and operational dashboards, governed self-service, anomaly detection, and embedded analytics.
GIS
Geospatial Intelligence
Captures the spatial dimension of operations in the field and wires it into every other discipline, so location becomes a live input to decisions. Includes survey construction, field data capture, operational map dashboards, spatial analysis, and asset mapping.
Leadership
The team
We are small by design and surgically cohesive. The industries we work in are volatile and high-stakes, and a tight, senior core handles that better than a large one. This is that core team.

Brendon Levendig
CEO
Strategy, delivery alignment, and the firm's outward edge. Hands-on depth in healthcare, finance and people.

Liesl de Swardt
CSO
Strategy that survives contact with delivery. Roadmaps, KPIs, and the plan the rest of the work answers to.

Saildon Sivnanden
CTO
Technology and operations. The engineering backbone, running the systems the firm and its clients depend on.

Lebogang Malekutu
Manager: Data Analytics
The mathematics behind every insight and the architect of the data lake.

Thando Mthombeni
Manager: Solution Delivery
AI, automation, and the Satchel. Problem-solver-in-chief on the builds that matter.

Dumisani Nkosi
Manager: GIS
Spatial and data analytics turned into innovation the business can use. Server architecture and lean licensing mastered underneath.

Anneri Scholtz
Manager: People & Talent
People, culture, resourcing and practitioner compliance - kept in lockstep so the team moves fast without breaking.

Track record
Where we deliver
We deliver from Johannesburg, Pretoria, and Cape Town - embedded inside the client operation rather than working from the outside. The Boots model means our people sit alongside yours, close to how the work actually runs, whether that is on-site or as a remote team wired into your daily cadence. The proximity is the point: we shape the work to the reality on the ground, not to a borrowed picture of it.
The sectors we operate in span energy and utilities, healthcare, agriculture, public sector, financial services, QSR, and legal - environments where decisions carry weight and the data has to be right. The same four disciplines apply across all of them, shaped each time to the sector's constraints and the organisation's actual state.
