LUMA is Satchel and Boot's foundation, and it exists for one reason: to help make South Africa a better place. We have spent years building competitive advantages for businesses, and we have come to believe that the same ingredients that lift a company can lift a country: good technology, real intelligence, strong networks, and a shared sense of purpose. LUMA puts those to work for the South Africans who need them most, linking up minds to action.
What LUMA is
LUMA is a registered Non Profit Company (CIPC 2025/665111/08), currently in its start-up phase. It is powered by Satchel and Boot, and by our products and our people where they are needed, so that what we build for clients we can also turn toward opportunity. The thread running through it is simple. Education, opportunity and employment belong together, and technology can connect them at a scale that was not reachable before.
The driving force
We are not waiting for permission to build. LUMA leverages AI, technology and networks, and the togetherness that turns individual effort into collective momentum, as the force behind a country with more open doors. A better land of opportunity is built, not wished for, and we would rather start building it than describe it.
Phase one: education and access
The first phase is education, and access to it. Too much talent never gets a fair start, because the door to learning is closed by cost or distance long before ability is ever the question. LUMA's first work is to open that door. We deliver free, accessible learning, powered by Ingqondo, our learning platform, so that a person's circumstances do not set the ceiling on what they are allowed to learn.
Where it goes from here
Education is phase one because it is the foundation everything else stands on. From there the path runs toward opportunity and employment, the natural next steps once minds are linked to action. We will build that path in the open, one working step at a time, rather than promise the whole of it at once. That is how we work for clients, and it is how we will work here.
